How to find your Google review link

Updated on

Your Google review link comes from your business profile: open it, go to the reviews section, then to the get-more-reviews feature, and copy the link shown there. If you have not claimed your profile yet, search for your business on Google Maps, start writing a review and copy the address that opens. Always test the link on a phone: it must open the rating form, not your profile page.

Frequently asked questions

My link opens my profile instead of the review form, why?

This is the most common mistake: the address copied from the browser bar while viewing your own profile leads to the profile, not to the form. The link to use is the one Google provides in the get-more-reviews feature of your profile. A correct link opens the five stars and the comment field straight away.

Can I generate the QR code from my phone?

No. Google states that review QR codes can only be generated in a computer browser, not on mobile devices. It is one reason many businesses give up halfway through, and it is also what an already printed plate saves you.

Do I need a Google profile to receive reviews?

A profile has to exist, but it may have been created automatically by Google without any action from you. Claiming it gives you access to replies, statistics and the get-more-reviews feature. Without claiming it you can still retrieve a link through Google Maps.

My business has two profiles, which one should I use?

Neither, until the duplicate is dealt with, otherwise your reviews split across two pages and neither reaches a credible volume. Report the duplicate to Google so it is merged or removed, then take the link from the profile you keep.

Can I change this link after my plate arrives?

Yes, at any time and without changing the plate. The destination is edited from the Mon Avis Facile mobile app, which covers the usual cases: a merged profile, a move, a change of trading name, or switching from one destination to another.

Can I offer a discount in exchange for a review?

No. Google treats offering an incentive, free or discounted goods or services, in exchange for posting a review, changing one or removing a negative one as fake and misleading content, and strictly prohibits it. The request must be neutral and offered to everyone, which is also a legal requirement in France.
